Welcome to Old Mill Drift Guest Farm

Old Mill Drift is a 1 646-acre historic guest and Warmblood horse stud farm with pet-friendly, self-catering accommodation on the Caledon River.
Located 27km from Clarens and Fouriesburg in the Free State, South Africa, often referred to as “a hidden gem” by our guests, this magical setting with stark seasonal contrasts and equally magnetic landscape provides the ultimate exhilaration for extreme sports enthusiasts and yet a peaceful solace for those who just want an escape in this deeply tranquil space.

Set on 14km of the Caledon River, the natural border between South Africa and Lesotho, and nestled at the foot of the Maluti Mountains, this stark, bountiful, and exquisite land is an idyllic place for a technical and trail run.

Route Information:

Stage 1 Old Mill Drift: 17km / 11km
Is characterized by difficult technical terrain. 
Don't let the shorter distances fool you as the climbs are steep but oh-so worth the view. There are no free kilometers at this stage!!!
It's a very hard and physically demanding stage.
Runners and hikers need to keep in mind that this is no park run!!!!

Stage 2 Arpa Adventure Farm: 26km & 13km
Is characterized by non-technical open roads through the millions of cosmos flowers next to the road.

A picturesque self-catering establishment nestled in the stunning Fouriesburg region.
Here, you can experience the beauty of nature while enjoying a range of exciting activities.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful getaway or an adventurous holiday, Arpa Adventure Farm offers the perfect accommodation for your needs.
Our units are located just a stone's throw away from the majestic dam, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the area and witness the fantastic BirdLife that thrives here Arpa Adventure Farm is a "green" farm that does not make use of grid power.
A generator and batteries are used for electricity and lights and an 800-litre donkey boiler is used for the hot water supply.
There is enough firewood for boma fires however you would need to bring your charcoal with you.
There is a 180-degree view on the farm with stunning views of the magnificent mountains and right next to the farm is a tranquil dam, 20-50 meters from the units.
Fouriesburg is a quaint little town in the Eastern Free State, situated in the Brandwater basin.
The Lesotho border post of Caledonspoort is about 8 km from Fouriesburg.
